Make value-based care a reality

The idea behind ACOs seems simple: Purposeful coordination among providers and facilities can improve quality and reduce unnecessary costs. And when an ACO hits quality and cost targets, participating providers meeting performance requirements are eligible to share in the savings achieved.

Benefits of participating in the Scripps ACO

Besides having the opportunity to receive shared savings, Scripps ACO providers can take advantage of numerous, expanding benefits. These include:

Greater performance savings

Within the MSSP, Scripps ACO is a Track 3 program. This means there are higher shared savings opportunities because the ACO takes greater downside risk. However, you and your practice will not be exposed to any downside risk through December 31, 2019 — and potentially beyond.

MIPS exemption

Having earned Advanced Alternative Payment Model status for performance year 2017, current MSSP participants are exempt from MACRA’s Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Easier quality reporting

Even though your office needs to ensure precise medical claims coding and record documentation to successfully report quality metrics, we collect nearly all the necessary data from your office and report to CMS on your behalf. The only exception is Promoting Interoperability (formerly Advancing Care Information) data. Federal law requires individual practices to report their own Promoting Interoperability data. Exclusive access to new ACO contracts

The Scripps ACO has already been awarded the Qualcomm Premier ACO contract, a first-of-its-kind alliance in San Diego. Because employers like Qualcomm are looking to include more direct partnerships with health care providers, we anticipate securing more value-based contracts. The Scripps ACO was designed to be preferred by purchasers because it’s a fee-for-value model that provides an optimal network, care management functions and robust analytics capabilities.

EHR solution at reduced cost

Thanks to the MSSP waiver, the Scripps ACO can subsidize a significant portion of the costs for network providers to license and install Epic. Learn more about Scripps Community Connect, our fully integrated EHR solution.

Shared clinical data

By making utilization and clinical health care data accessible to all providers in our network, we can target patients who need help improving their health or getting the appropriate care at the right time. We can also track performance against MSSP and other ACO quality targets.

Superior patient support

Scripps ACO providers may leverage programs such as Alana, a service to which you can refer complex COPD patients for in-home check-ins and monitoring. You also benefit from the Scripps ACO’s patient concierge team, which helps patients access the right care from the right provider.
